Do you think one of the most important relationships we can have is the one we have with ourselves?

Especially when we take time to slow down & watch life from a different perspective…

This past weekend our little family joined up with Hubby’s side of the family for a mini-vacation.  We rented a house by the beach and enjoyed spectacular views of the ocean from the huge windows!  It was majestic, really.

This beautiful sunset was taken from the patio by my sweet Hubby.

We appreciated the time away from our usual routine.  While our kids played with Grandma & Grandpa, Uncles, Auntie & Cousin, I had extra time to play lots of guitar.  I didn’t have internet access so I did miss writing back to many of you (so I’m also happy to be home now)!

It was really nice to take the time to slow down and relax.  With 2-3 days away from what we’re used to, we really do receive a different perspective of our daily routine at home.  During our time at Dillon Beach, Hubby got to do something he really enjoys but rarely gets to do…he had extra time to do a 1000-piece puzzle of underwater creatures!  It was a beautiful puzzle, and he is a patient man!  I did join him to help out with the sky pieces.  Now how often do we get to do something like this?

What about you?  What do you like to do to slow down & take in a different perspective in life?

    Hi!

Thank you for stopping by my blog! How awesome to be able to get away for a few days. That is exactly what we need to do. Would love to make it to a beach somewhere this summer. That would be neat.

Hey Jinnia thank you for joining Mama's Little Nestwork! I have been working on this for a few months now and I am happy I got it going already! I will go add your link now. This post is great. It is a super title and question. Sometimes I think we live such busy lives that we forget to really stop and breathe. I really don't know the last time I really took the time to simply relax. I need it though. It is nutrition for our souls. Excellent post as always. I would like to feature you soon. Let me know if you have a post brewing that you woul like featured. Have a great day!

    Hi Jinnia!

I like to take the dog for a walk when I need a little fresh air physically and mentally. He is so easy to get along with, and absolutely adores all of us. Unconditional love.

I also find myself needing to get away for a holiday now and then too. You're right that putting ourselves in a different setting is refreshing, even if it's a whirlwind tour, I find it rejuvenates me.

How nice to get away on a beach for a few days, yay for you for doing it. A walk helps me as well as time. If I'm conflicted about something, often I just need time and space from the situation to give me a sound healthy perspective. Great ?!

Sure thing, Heather! Believe me, we needed to get away for a few days. Hope you can make it to a beach this summer!

Hey Mama Hen, absolutely! I wouldn't miss it! I love being in touch with you and what you're all about! SO happy for you to get the nestwork going, it's going to be so much fun to support each other and watch each other grow! With such wonderful ideas brewing, it would be challenging to relax. I'd probably have a hard time sleeping, if you know what I mean! I'll definitely let you know when I have a post brewing that I'd like featured. Thanks so much for thinking of me and adding my link! I hope the button I added is okay, let me know if you'd like me to do a different one. Have a great evening!!

Aw, sounds like a sweet dog. Nothing like tangible unconditional love, if you know what I mean ;-) It's great you can find rejuvenation out of a whirlwind tour! Have a fabulous evening :)

Thanks! It was nice, and much needed. It wasn't without hiccups but all in all it was a great time. Glad you can take a walk and get some time & space. That's great to do in a conflicted situation! I'd do that whenever I got upset with my hubby or kids and it sure helps.

That IS a beautiful puzzle! It’s true that we don’t really sit, relax, and take time for ourselves. Thanks for visiting me. I’m following you back!

Thank you so much for your sweet comment on my blog! :-) I am completely new to photograhy, but it's such a fun hobby – so relaxing and enjoyable. I'm laughing at your comment in the previous post…where you used to be afraid of little kids. I still am! hee hee! (Not my own, of course, but other kids..yes!) I have a teaching degree, and never used it. A class full of kids staring at me – no thank you!

Great to e-meet you! Have a wonderful Tuesday! :-)

You're so welcome, I would never have guessed you're completely new to photography! How long have you been doing it? It's such a cool medium, I wish I'd put more time into learning photography. Sometimes I just stare at my hubby's Nikon and say, all I can do it point & shoot for now, LOL.

I'm laughing at your imagery of a class full of kids staring at you. I wouldn't know what to do in that situation! It's really nice to meet you, Karli!

    Jinnia,
That photo IS gorgeous! As far as slowing down, working out really helps me do that and I love Pilates. I also love massages, but don't get to enjoy those as soften! lol
    Have a beautiful day!

Greetings from Malaysia! Hopping over from Mama's Little Nestwork!

I think having a child really give us a new perspective in life! No more rushing through life, climbing through the corporate ladder, chasing after bigger salary, higher post, avoiding office politics etc etc.
