Want A Meaningful Life?

Have you ever wondered if there is more to life than what you’ve experienced so far?

Perhaps there are desires and dreams buried inside of your heart that you haven’t seen for a while.

There are a lot of misconceptions about dreams, and many people are not encouraged to dream.  Maybe you’re one of them.  For most of my life including the early parts, I was not encouraged to dream.  I scarcely recall a teacher or adult in my early years who has made a difference in my life in ways that I can remember – until I learned to dream again with role models I found as an adult.

I love this definition of a dream by Dr. John C. Maxwell:  “A dream is an inspiring picture of the future that energizes your mind, will, and emotions, empowering you to do everything you can to achieve it.  A dream worth pursuing is a picture and blueprint of a person’s purpose and potential.”

It’s never too late to start dreaming.  And there’s hope to dream again – this time, with excellent tools to help you succeed.  As someone who has battled through disappointment, inner heartache and deep emotional hurts, I believe you can re-start as many times as you need to pursue your potential and purpose.

Uncover your buried desires, re-ignite your dreams, and design a meaningful life you love!

For practical tips, transparent stories, affirmations, prayers and soul-searching exercises, I invite you to check out my new book (co-authored with a dear friend and colleague) and music CD here:

Overcoming Emotional Blocks

It is incredible how our feelings can block us from receiving – even seeing – the solutions in front of us that want to come to us.

We may not even know that we feel a certain way, especially if we are used to methods of coping with our situations, rather than finding the cause for them.

Methods like running away from the problem, avoiding the person who we perceive to be the problem, or escaping to a “better place” in our head.

These methods may seem to work for a while.  We even likely feel less pain.  But the problem with them is that we become numb and even asleep to finding the real solution, the real root of the issue.

Then our feelings get locked in our body and our perspective gets skewed to where we don’t see solutions that are right in front of us, waiting to be discovered.  A lot of the answers to your problems and my problems are right in front of us, or within us.  The fact that I believe that God leads me, guides and teaches me, amplifies the power for me to find these answers, because He is so powerful.

Case in point, for the past 2 weeks I have experienced this up close and personal.  Without going into details, suffice it to say, I had been blocked from receiving love from an individual and blocked from seeing the solutions for our relationship and friendship, that are so expansive and limitless.  God wants us to be free of resentment and jealousy and yet here I was, struggling with those feelings.  And until I expressed them on paper through free writing, I was denying them, or strategically burying them without being fully aware of what I was doing to jeopardize the relationship.

I am thankful to God for opening me up to bring my feelings and emotions to Him for healing, in powerful, relevant and effective ways.  Instead of avoiding the person, or running away from the situation, I faced it head on and literally felt the block lift up and away from me.  And then I saw the most beautiful, wondrous and amazing solutions to continue our relationship moving forward.

How do you deal with feelings that you may have that get in the way of your relationships?

What Is Your Potential?

Last week I started doing more free form writing.  It was a superb way to get some of my feelings from my heart onto paper.  I like writing to a degree and used to journal in college, filling up volumes of spiral bound notebooks.  Those are what I call ramblings, musings and all-around cathartic expressions of my soul.  I even wrote a poem or two when I was inspired.

Writing as an everyday habit was not something I did.  I wrote as a way to release emotions, and that wasn’t needed every single day.  However, recently I learned something important and it’s about cultivating habits you want to keep for life.

Let me ask you…what do you cherish in life?  Time with your family?  Freedom to do what you want?  The gift of self-expression?

That which we cherish, is that which we make time for.  And making time for something, I find, is not to be taken lightly.  Time is beautiful, time is precious, and time slips quickly.  The degree to which we expend energy to capture time, is the degree to which we are successful in carving out time.  Time eludes.  We must snatch it with passion.  Without passion, time is just something we watch tick away.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to spend the rest of my life living in regret of what I’m doing with my time.  I want to steward it with excellence and use it to yield delicious returns for my God, family, friends and clients.  I want to live so freely, so in tune with my God-given desires, that my very heartbeat and outward expressions draw people near to Him.  That is my life purpose.

As I wrap up this post, I want to ask you, what kinds of things excite you?  What makes you come alive?  Chances are, those things are put in you for a great purpose – one that you may or may not think you live up to now.  But, each day that you step into it, no matter how big or small of a step, you are one step closer to realizing your potential.  And your potential is as vast and wide as the expanse of stars that fill the sky.  And like the stars, your potential – whether you see it or not, is there.

If you were to lie down and look up at the night sky filled with stars twinkling and dancing, what would you see yourself doing if you were one of those stars?

What Do You Hold In Your Heart That Gets You Excited?

I’m finding true that what we hold in our heart and mind grows.  A lot of the things that show up in our lives do so as a result of what we think about and cherish in our hearts.

When we cherish our spouse and children, we will do things with them to build sweet memories and those grow into more creative and fun ways to interact with each other.  Yesterday, my husband and kids and I went out for lunch at a Chinese restaurant.  We enjoyed won ton noodles together and had fun going grocery shopping.  Towards the end of the day, right before dinner, I took my daughter swimming.  We had a great time and I remarked that I felt like we were on vacation right in our own town and home.

It was that beautiful of a day, not only weather-wise but also the linking of our hearts as a family.

I had changes to make to get here.  Prior to designing these lovely memories, I was super busy with getting my first official music CD and first book, co-authored with my colleague and friend Rachel, ready to be published.  Now I’m designing a website and sales page for the marketing aspects of distributing the work and having tons of fun doing something I absolutely love.  And now, serving a new coaching client is a sweet joy, and the trickier part has been balancing time with my family.

It’s being done, one step at a time.  One change I am making is the night time slot, I am devoting to talking and connecting with my husband (rather than working).  Sometimes it just takes a little shift, a little change, to turn around the flow of events in your life that you may want to see flow differently.  I am utterly thankful I get to work in ways that fit me, my personality, values, strengths, and gets me so excited I cannot wait to keep working because it means I get to keep learning, growing, and implementing!

What about you?  What little shifts do you want to make in your life?  What do you hold in your heart that gets you excited?

Love and Thanks

My heart is filled with love right now, as I ponder the wonder of life.  You and I have the ability to take in a breath upon waking from our sleep.  We have family and friends that we care deeply for, who also love us.

I have been expanded to see the vastness of life and all the opportunities it brings when we are allowing LOVE and THANKS to dwell in our hearts.  Sometimes it takes some tangible action on our part.  Sometimes it takes a reflective stillness to quiet our souls and listen to the inner hum within.

Today I want to share how appreciative I am of your presence in my life.  I am all the more grateful for the positive outlook I now possess; it is a gift for the present.

You see, just last week I was wrestling with negative thoughts and feelings again.  No human is immune to it, as negativity is thick in the air throughout the world.  Nearly 90% of everything we take in is negative, so how do we make room for the positive?

The answer lies in, how badly do we want the positive?  How badly do you want to cultivate love, thanks, and all the beautiful wondrous things those bring into your life?  God does not promise that life would be easy, but He does promise that His peace and love is ours…

…if we want it.

And receive it.

Stories from the doTerra Engage Convention 2012

Have you been to a live conference where you learned new information, got inspired by positive messages of hope, and connected with people full of passion for living?

Most of us who go to a conference get excited and for very good reason.  We have been filled with positive things for 3 days straight, surrounded by voices that say we can do it, we are valued, and lifted to new heights by visions of what is possible.  Consequently, we may come home with big plans for change and a renewed sense of connection and purpose of why we’re here and doing what we’re doing.  Isn’t it wonderful and cool?

This past weekend I attended the doTerra company convention and got to meet members of our team in person.  It was so much fun to hang out and chat at length with all of them!

I became CONNECTED with the company culture on a deeper level, hearing real life stories of how the product of the highest quality essential oils you can find on the market, has helped so many people get their health back.

How can you forget stories like:

1.  An 11 year old daughter with horrible stomach pains who either didn’t eat, or when she ate she threw up.  Catching pneumonia was a normal annual occurrence for her.  She also suffered from asthma and urinary reflux.  She was put on a lot of antibiotics for the H. pylori.  The majority of the world’s population have this bacteria but it just doesn’t show up for most of us.

This little girl had severe stomach ulcers and for 14 weeks was given 3 different rounds of antibiotics without feeling much better.  Her mom (and the speaker), Natalie Rigby, was introduced to the oils and gave her a digestive blend and soon after she said, “That felt nice.”  She went to school and the school called and asked, “What have you been doing at home?  Your daughter is doing so well now.”

2.  Natalie Rigby’s son contracted the H1N1 virus at a basketball game.  He took some oils, which are antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, and within 2-3 days the virus was gone.  Within 48 hours the protective blend that supports healthy immune function, was able to destroy the virus.

3.  An infant son with RSV, a virus that causes respiratory tract infections.  The father, Darrel Christoph, who I got to meet and talk with at length (while standing in line to get a Nathan Pacheco music CD autographed), gave him some oils and within 2 days his son was better.  The doctors said it was the first time they saw such a quick recovery from RSV.  Darrel teaches health classes once a week and inspired me greatly through what he shared.

4.  A mom, Kim Ruiz, whose 9 year old son has the brain condition called hydrocephalus.  It’s not a commonly known condition; in fact, hydrocephalus is so complex that even medical staff do not recognize it unless they are experienced with it.  I got to meet Kim at the airport and she was so kind to share her knowledge about this condition with me.  In fact, she is the Executive Director of a non-profit organization called A Pocketful of Change.  I am impressed and touched by her passion and vision for raising awareness about hydrocephalus in schools, hospitals and other facilities.  Her son, having gone through so many brain surgeries, had been suffering from depression as well, and Kim uses frankincense and lemon essential oils on his chest, which help to lift his mood.

5.  A lady from Japan that I got to sit next to, who didn’t speak very much English.  Somehow she and I managed to have a 2-hour conversation and learned quite a lot, in my opinion, about each other.  And it’s NOT because I speak Japanese!  LOL.  Her knee was hurting and she said that doTerra’s soothing blend helped the pain in her knee to go away.  Isn’t that fantastic?

Prior to the convention, many of you know, I have been working on a book project with Rachel Sayers.  It is so very near ready to go to press and we plan for its release this month, as well as a music CD of songs to accompany the book.  While at the convention we met people who want to purchase our book and that’s so affirming, you guys.  It’s our first book and to know that people want to read it, is such a sweet feeling.  So we’re very excited for that and keeping you posted as those titles become available.

Being a part of the convention this year was a wonderful experience that goes beyond words!

Stay tuned for my next post on Wednesday, Keep The Post Conference “High” Going, where I will share how I am keeping the excitement going as I go back to my everyday routine.  Hope this has been helpful and inspiring to you!

Lessons from My Basil Plant

Hello!  Hope you had a refreshing weekend.  My husband just returned from his trip to India and I am going to take today off to enjoy hearing more about his adventures there.

So my hubby tells me about these 3/4 inch long ants, 5 inch spider, deer as big as a horse, and skinny cows on the side of the road.  He shows me pictures of the ants, cows and a sweeping looking bug.  Man, did he have some adventures or what?!

On the last night of his 3-week stay in India, it had rained so these 3/4 inch long ants were coming into his hotel hut room.  He sprayed the whole bottle of essential oil I gave him along the bottom of the door (it was a small bottle).  And yippee!  The ants turned the other way.

But I digress.  I’ve come here to tell you about my basil plant.

My basil plant, at one point in time, was dying. I do not have a green thumb but I continued to do the only thing I knew – water it.  I didn’t know if it would make it, but today it has not only survived but producing 3 new offshoots  (Is that what you even call them?  My gardener friends, feel free to correct that).

Three lessons I learned from my Basil Plant:

1.  Things are not what they seem.  The plant looked (to me at the time) like it will not make it.

2.  Keep persisting in what you know.  I didn’t know much about how to care for the plant, but I kept watering it over time, even when it looked like it wasn’t going to make it.

3.  God causes any plant (or human being) to grow.  So I can rest in His eternal loving care and do my best work with excellence, knowing the results are in His hands.

Book Review of Damaged Goods: Learning To Dream Again

Have you ever wanted to do something adventurous and fun as a little kid?

Back then, our imaginations had no limits.  When I was a little girl, I wondered what it would feel like to walk on puffy clouds.

Of course, as an adult, we know that walking on puffy clouds is reserved for movies or at best, I could place a bunch of white cotton on the floor and walk on it.

How about other dreams, like doing something you love on a mass scale and getting paid for it, so that work and play are creatively and beautifully intertwined at a heart and soul level?  That was a dream I started having a few years ago and it’s being realized as we speak.

There really is no limit, but limitations start when we are clouded by lies about who we really are, that were planted in the soil of our mind early on in life.  Those early childhood circumstances in our lives hold the greatest potential for bringing us immense pain and suffering, or unspeakable love and joy.

In her book, “Damaged Goods: Learning To Dream Again”, Charlotte Hunt tells a remarkable true story of her life.  She artfully, graciously and humorously recounts events from the traumatic experiences she’s had of being abused since childhood, the damage that was brought into her and her family’s world, and the deliverance she’s experienced by her determination to tap into her source of truth and strength.

This is a must-read!  I literally read this book in 2 days – when I picked up where I had left off, I could not put it down and kept reading into the wee hours of the morning!  The book was glued to my hands!

Watch the video to hear what prompted me to purchase the book, what takeaways I received, and who I would recommend this book to.  I made an error in the video – the definition of abuse I gave is not correct.  Abuse actually means to use wrongly or treat in a harmful way.

Here’s where you may purchase the book:

Liberation and Freedom

I wrestle with expressing thoughts on liberation and freedom, so here is the video where you see it:

Willing to Fail and Other Thoughts on Healing

Hi there!  How are you?  I’m brimming with joy at the progress and breakthroughs I’ve been having with healing wounds of the past.  You know, it’s really a process and when I learned I can embrace that process and allow it, so much more of life has opened up to me.  In fact, whereas before I struggled with perfectionistic tendencies, now I am willing to fail and look stupid with the dreams I’m activating.  I’m currently reading an excellent book called “Damaged Goods: Learning To Dream Again” by Charlotte Hunt and in it there’s a comment that really stood out to me, and that is, “Dream Dreams Big Enough To Fail.”

I’m still on the journey of healing, but I can say I’ve come a long way and see love and light everywhere I go now.  It’s truly liberating.  And one of the signs that healing is continually taking place in my life is the fact that I am now willing to fail as I take the message in my heart to others – like the clotting and scabbing counterpart to physical wound healing.  My message may not sound polished or professional (yet), but my heart is pure and desiring you to find healing for your wounds, whether physical or emotional.  Do feel free to post a comment, ask a question, or subscribe to my newsletter at upper right to stay connected and receive further interaction on topics such as this one.

What kind of methods for healing have you tried and how have they worked for you?
