Over the weekend, Hubby and I took the kids to Petco to buy more fishies. We had 2 fishes survive after 5 months of starting a new tropical fish aquarium. It’s been a fun hobby with the kids.
So we were looking at the fishies, when a store clerk came up to us and asked, “Do you need some help, or are you just browsing?” Now normally, when a store clerk of a big store comes up to me, I experience someone who is disinterested in truly helping me. That’s why I’ve developed the habit of politely dismissing most clerks by saying, “We’re just looking.”
But this store clerk was different. He wasn’t an upbeat, gregarious individual – but he was genuinely interested in helping us. How did I know? It was what he emanated from his question. He was sincere and he was prepared to help. He wanted to help. And how wonderful it was to be helped by someone who listened to our needs and wanted to help us!
