“This Little Light of Mine, I’m Gonna Let It Shine.”
Remember this song? Maybe you sang it when you were little- or now, bless their hearts, your sweet kids are singing it too.
I believe my generation (that’s you, my friends and fellow parents) is blessed with opportunity, intelligence, resources and finances.
Most of us have so much more potential than we give ourselves and God credit for. We are not as much on fire for life, for God, for others as we would like to be.
We do our best to be the wife, mom, daughter and other roles we’re called to be.
And often…we’re tired. We’re just plain tired at the end of the day. Our bodies need a break and we get our own time when the kids are in bed.
Sometimes we stay up a wee bit late doing something that we may not even remember.
And that’s because we have emotional hurts from our past that we have not come to grips with. Deep inside something’s calling out to be touched, healed and transformed by the hand of the most loving and powerful Spirit imaginable. Our amazing Heavenly Father.
Instead, what are we used to doing? Feeling the pain, stuffing it down, and medicating it hoping it will go away. It’s not our fault- we don’t even know we’re doing it.
Perhaps we view these hurts as “not as difficult as our parents’ generation so it’s not necessary to do much about them”.
Or we think, “I just need to pray more or get my act together with God better.”
Question: Do you ever feel like there’s more to life than what you’re living? Do you ever silently battle with guilt, shame, bitterness?
We’ve become great at putting band-aids over our wounds. We don’t readily give ourselves the gift of allowing ourselves to process, grieve, forgive, let go, THEN move forward into whatever God has in store for us next.
It will serve God, ourselves and others SO MUCH BETTER when we allow ourselves that process and create space for something so great, we could not ever have imagined it coming.
This message is firing up inside me right now. I’m on a journey of transformation and I want to take you along with me. If you or anyone you know is experiencing confusion, overwhelm, depression, it’s time to start getting those deep wounds healed, one baby step at a time.
