Have you ever gone through your day with any inconveniences?  I’m sure you have.  What are some of yours today?

Yesterday our inconvenience came in the form of a power outage.  It had rained hard during the day, complete with storm and raging wind.  In the evening we had no electricity starting at 5:00 pm, all the way until 7:00 am the next morning.  A lot of things had to be figured out – dinner, lighting, laundry, bathtime, and a lack of nightlight for the kids who didn’t want to sleep in complete darkness.

So what did we do?  I called my husband on his way home from work to pick up propane tanks for our camping stove, and also a sandwich from Safeway.  Thank God we had a big stash of candles which we immediately lighted.  We ate our dinner by candlelight.  The kids had lots of fun looking at the dancing fire on the candles and the shadows we cast on the walls.  Our son cracked up looking at his daddy’s Big Giant Shadow.

We did everything we would normally do in our everyday routine, but this time it felt different – of course.  It brought to my mind farmers.  Farmers.

Farmers rise at the crack of dawn and sleep soon after night sets in.  They maximize their work time with the natural light.  I bet they save a lot of money on their energy bill.

But also…this slight break from our normal routine allowed us to have some quiet and reflect on some things in our lives that we’ve always wanted & needed to reflect on, things that got pushed to the back burner.  Through this reflection time, I read articles from Christianity9to5 that I had downloaded years ago, before I started in business.  It amazed me the content of these articles are things I have encountered through being a part of the marketplace.

It confirmed to me where I’m at, and I felt the loving arms of my Father saying, “I love you so much, that’s why I’m helping you to pace yourself in business so you can set the best foundation for your future.  Because you are still being weaned from your perfectionistic tendencies, I am helping you take things slowly & steadily.  I have no doubt you can run and fly with your business venture.  But I want you to continue to practice loving your family first.  Put them as your priority.  That is more important, and the business growth comes as a result of your personal growth.”

What a wonderful “inconvenient” blessing!
