Do you like to meet people, connect and network?  I do!  It’s such a natural part of life – and it extends right into business.

Every Work At Home Wednesday, I strive to bring you effective tips and strategies to make working from home more fun and less time-consuming.

A couple such tips come from Carol Stephen – an intelligent, sophisticated, witty gal that I have the incredible privilege of knowing as my friend and business associate.  Carol is an amazing networker and businesswoman!  I just had coffee with her at a local Starbucks today, and the chance to “pick her brain” was so fun!  You’ll see a smidgen of the social media knowledge she’s picked up since last October.  Talk about entrepreneurial spirit at its best!

Here are the tips:

1.  The best days to update your status on Facebook, Twitter, or other social media platforms are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  For whatever reason, you get more visibility on these days.  Weekends are quieter but you can interact more with the people who are online on weekends.

2.  When you want to post to Facebook but you’re short on time, one way to make an impact is to go to Top News, and comment on a topic that catches your eye.

Today is also Show Us Your Business Wednesday over at Society of Socialpreneurs, where a bunch of us answer the question, Where Do You Network?  I network wherever I can develop depth in relationships.  My favorite places are:  local coffee shops where I meet with people one-on-one, and social sites like Mom Bloggers Club, Facebook, Twitter.

How about you?  Where do you network? Be sure to grab my button and link up!

I love to network too and sometimes it becomes overwhelming to me! Any suggestions on how to manage time and still network! :)

Yes, I hear ya! It does become overwhelming sometimes. I'm learning how to batch time, doing it is a work in progress :)

Another great post Jinnia! I wish I had the time to get to Facebook and Twitter, but I spend so much time networking with my blog that I don't have any more time. I guess we have to choose the area we most want to work on and then go with it! Have a great night!

Those are very helpful tips, I didn’t realize that Tues was a good status day, I always thought Mondays were busy…much to think about!

Lately I’ve been networking on twitter.
-I clicked over from 31DBBB, I like your tagline!

I never realized those days are the best days to update your status were Tues, Thurs, Fridays. I always thought Fridays were slower days. Interesting though! I probably don't network enough. I am kind of new to that. I am always trying to figure out ways to network but to do it genuinely and not because I want to grow my blog. I want to make sure that is not my intent but it's difficult because I can't be genuinely interested in everyone…or at least their business or blog, some thing don't interest me…does that make sense? I enjoyed this post!

Thanks, Mama Hen. Yes, you're right! It does take a lot of time. You're building so many wonderful friendships through your blog that it makes sense you spend more time there! I'm still figuring out how to juggle the time with FB, Twitter and blogging. Have a great night too! I'll be doing Thanksgiving Thursday, will let you know when I post it :)

Me neither. I always thought Mondays were good to start the week. No worries though, about networking. I used to do more business networking but now find I'm loving the personal aspect of blogging more because I'm able to do what I love – that is to be real and transparent with people. I agree, it's a delicate balance to be genuinely interested in everyone, at least consistently anyway. Thanks for your kind comment!

I wonder why Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays offer greater visibility. Where did you learn this?? Thanks for the tip… I will keep it in mind!

Yes, I thought Mondays were busy too. Twitter is a great place to network! Thanks for your nice compliment, Genevieve! Hope you're enjoying the 31DBBB :)

Cool! I wonder that too, I learned this from a friend & business associate who picked up a lot of social media knowledge.

Sorry I didn't get here yesterday, Jinnia!

Great tips! I, too, love networking and meeting new people. It's interesting though, I think some of my closest friends are people I've met online over the years.

No problem, Patty! I'm so glad you stopped by! That's interesting you met some of your closest friends online over the years, that goes to show the Internet serves a wonderful purpose!
