Anytime someone starts a new endeavor, it’s imperative to have a purpose and a vision. Why?
Because having a vision allows you to know why you’re doing something.
Your vision allows you to come alive.
Any organization – whether a school, church, or business, will be able to focus its efforts better with a clarity of vision.
A vision can be put into writing as a mission statement, which expresses WHY an organization exists.
A compelling why gets you through the hard times, the FOG – when you cannot see clearly where a particular activity is going, when opposition knocks AND when opportunity knocks.
My vision in life is to help people embrace who they are so they can find meaning in their life. Ever since I was 7 years old, I was asking, “What is the meaning of life?” Now I want to give to others my listening ear, my discoveries and my experiences.
That vision carries me through the hard times and the fog as I keep the main thing the main thing. This enables me to have focused activity on what matters most – talking to people and loving them.
But I cannot carry out my vision alone. And believe me, I’ve tried. When I was at a low point of burn out and what seemed like a loss of vision, a concerned colleague reached out to me. I am so grateful for his keen insight and leadership. He happens to be a top leader in his companies.
He recognized when I needed help outside of what he could provide and referred me to a top coach and trainer in the home business industry, Tom Challan. I already knew Tom as an amazing coach. But to have him help me through a major breakthrough was to experience freedom in a dark place.
Why having a vision is important? It’s the driving force to do something meaningful in life, something that seems impossible at times.
But something that’s worth it.
