I want to recognize the nurse who did a great job getting my son to do his hearing test. Buddy was having a hard time following directions by raising his hand when he heard the “beep” sound. The first nurse and I worked with Buddy for 20 minutes with no success.
Then Ria came and gave it a shot. She confidently spoke to Buddy and guided him, though he still did not do as conventionally asked. What I’m most impressed with is that she found a way around that. She had him respond with saying “on” or “off”. Is the sound on or off?
Brilliant! Simple little change, brilliant connection to Buddy’s brain!
The same can be applied to anything we do…if we’ve been at something for what seems like a long time, with no success…
Might we think a little differently about it? I learned from Jordan Adler, sometimes it takes a 1-2 degree shift in thinking that makes a surprisingly huge difference.
Does that make sense? Tell me if it does…or doesn’t.
